Privacy and image quality
Resizing decodes and re-encodes visible pixels on your device. PNG keeps lossless pixels, while JPEG, WebP, and AVIF use the selected quality. Files never leave your browser. Very large images are rejected before they can exhaust browser memory.
Transparency and animation
PNG, WebP, and AVIF outputs preserve transparent pixels when the browser encoder supports them. JPEG has no transparency and uses a white background. JPEG and PNG are static. Animated GIF, WebP, and AVIF inputs are flattened to their first frame because canvas output does not preserve animation.
